Brew of the year: Our Baby Girl

As I lean into motherhood, I find the last few months increasingly precious as a season right before the birth of our baby. We found out a while ago - we are having a girl!

Edward’s parents took us on a nice little holiday in nearby Bintan, while visiting us in Singapore. The peaceful winds and beautiful villas were the perfect backdrop for a maternity photoshoot, which I’m happy we got to do.

Every day I feel more and more movement from baby, my own changing body, and an increasing heaviness. It has been super helpful to take the time to tune in, to the sensations of both discomfort and excitement, and to the highs and lows of my mood throughout this pregnancy. What I have practiced primarily, is to let go of thought, and instead focus on the body. The body could sometimes be saying completely different things compared to the mind, and if I listen closely, I can get more in sync with my own rhythms.

Business Brew: Consulting

After implementing successful strategies in our own business, I have decided that the best way to make use of this talent, is to create a sort of ‘2.0 service’ based off of all that I know. I see people struggle to provide great customer service, and businesses struggle to systemise their customer support operations. Since I have yet to see companies run more efficiently and with better service than our own, I have decided to offer my skills to help other businesses transform their own customer support operations.

One of the prompts that inspired me to take action towards setting up this business is this: “What problem (in this world) matters to you, that you want to solve?” For me, that problem right now is customer support bottlenecks.

I’ve set up my website and brand - theunstuckentrepreneur.co

At this early stage of the business, there are a lot of activities I can try to kick start some progress and get my first customer. Every action and event is a valuable lesson, and I am learning so much already.

It is also a test for me to put everything I know about running a good business and entrepreneurship into practice, combined with a little bit of my own insight and instinct. Beyond sound business knowledge and experience, another big part of being an entrepreneur is knowing how personal life blends in to business life. I highly agree with the idea of getting business owners to grow in all areas of their lives so that the positive effects spillover into their businesses as well.

The other thing I have been meditating upon and keep bringing myself back to, is the motive behind ‘why I am starting this consulting business’. It’s sort of like the same level of a search within for ‘why I want to have kids’, or ‘why I make a trading decision’. Without a clear reason or genuine desire to serve my customers, I wouldn’t be able to create a very attractive or valuable business (for others and for myself).

Home Cafe Brew: Food Processor Enabled Recipes

I’ve always wanted to have a food processor.

I’ve also, always wanted to be able to hang pictures on the wall.

Both of these dreams have been realised. (Crazy how long I’ve held out for hanging things on walls in places that didn’t feel like ‘home’ to me. That the wall wasn’t ‘my wall’.).

With my food processor, I’ve been able to make:

  • Beef dumplings

  • Banana ice-cream

  • Banana bread

  • Bliss balls

  • (it’s a coincidence that they all start with b)

  • Ice-cream cake

It’s amazing! The key to staying healthy for me is healthy snacks, and natural, wholesome, simple foods made with love. Stay tuned for more food adventure pictures to come!

Looking Ahead

I’m super keen on any feedback or ideas about the three brews in this newsletter issue. Please send me a message directly and let’s catch up!

Kind regards,

Kate
