Pregnancy update

As I enter my second trimester, I'm able to feel the baby kick and move around more, creating special moments of connection that I want to save and remember.

My daily activities focus on a healthy diet, daily movement, and ensuring my posture is well-aligned. Attending antenatal classes really opened my eyes to natural birthing and the incredible power of the female body. I’ve learnt that the key to a successful natural, drug-free birth is really dependent on mindset, rather than 'technique' or anything physical. My goal from now until giving birth is to truly connect with my mind and stay as relaxed as possible, to allow my body to perform optimally during labor and birth.

I am happy to have found a trusted team in Singapore who really believes in birthing as a natural process, mother-child bonding, and breastfeeding. The right people really make a world of difference when it comes to finding a support network that I can lean on.

Various people have found their way to natural birthing. However, even with this similarity, people's views can differ significantly once it comes to parenting and beyond. It's quite interesting to see this convergence also then lead into divergence in terms of how people feel about a wide range of topics.

Win of the Month: Think Big with Big Paper

My win of the month is really something quite simple: A3-sized paper. (Rhodia has a really good one).

I used to jot down notes on A4 paper, in notebooks, or sometimes even smaller pocket pads. However, once I discovered (by accident) that I could truly dream big just by starting with a larger sheet of paper, I unlocked a lot of momentum in my ability to think.

Who knew that the size of paper mattered so much as an enabler for thinking big?

I realised that after putting all my thoughts down, drawing out mind maps, and drafting tables and relationships, I was easily able to fill an A3 sheet, to the point where I went through a whole pad pretty quickly.

So the next time you’re looking to think big, I highly recommend grabbing a large sheet of paper or a whiteboard, giving your thoughts ample physical space to truly liberate all your thoughts.

Biggest Insight: Looking down the ladder

These past few weeks, I have experienced bouts of nervousness and anxiety, without really knowing why.

Initially, I breathed through it, which is how I would like to approach any strong feelings. The more I sat with the feeling and leaned into it, the more it helped me realise the deeper workings of my mind.

This led to an interesting discovery: I had the same feeling one might experience when walking on a glass bridge for the first time (for those afraid of heights). It’s the feeling of intellectually knowing that I won't fall, but simultaneously being nervous about walking on the bridge.

So why did I experience this feeling at random times of day for the past few weeks?

It became clear to me that it was because of all the new growth and breakthroughs happening within me. Because I no longer put “brakes” on my mental, spiritual, and intellectual growth, I didn't slow any progress down. I had been experiencing breakthroughs in many areas of my life within a short is of time, that it had left me feeling like I was climbing this big, endless ladder.

The higher I went on the ladder, the more nerve-wracking it felt to my "old self." This brings me to my second realisation—that I would only feel nervous if I "looked down" or "looked back."

If instead, if I ‘looked forward’ and focused on the next step or the destination, all feelings of doubt and fear would wash away, and the ground beneath my feet would become as solid as rock again.

Since I had already done the work to remove any limiting beliefs or thoughts in my life, I had also removed any 'speed limits' that I could put on my own growth.

Favourite Finds & Recommendations

Books: The Power of Full Engagement by Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz - my biggest takeaway from this book is “forget ‘time management’, focus on ‘energy management’ instead”. There are some conscious strategies and rituals that we can build into our days to manage our energy better. From pro athletes to CEOs, anyone can find ways to better manage their energy to live a more fulfilled and meaningful life.

Podcasts: Dr Joe Dispenza: You MUST Do This Before 10am! My favourite quote from this video if of Joe saying “because your body is trillions of cells, 70 trillions of cells, and they’re all spying on your brain”. (time stamp 1:01:21)

Image: How emotions play out in the body - it’s really interesting to see how certain emotions feel in the body. It’s often hard for people to describe how ‘depression’ feels like, other than there being a lack of energy, now, we can see that with depression, it is the deactivation of the whole body (including the limbs) that characterises how it feels in the body.
